All action nodes require setting up in a node form, where you specify the parameters for the selected action.
In this article, we will guide you on how to set up a “custom object” action node so your flow can execute the appropriate tasks to achieve your desired outcome.
Before configuring custom object trigger nodes, you will need to have at least one custom object created in your company. You can refer to the this help center article to learn more about custom object
Create custom object records
The “Create custom object records” action allows you to create a new object record in your custom object effortlessly. Create records automatically to avoid human error, ensure the data are accurate and up-to-date.
To set up the node, follow these steps:
- Click on the “Create custom object records” action node to open up its form, which will appear on the right side of the screen
- Select a custom object. If no object is created, you can refer to this help center article to create a custom object
- The node form contains the following fields for you to configure your action:
- Mandatory fields: These fields automatically appear when you select an object and include essential properties required for creating a record. For instance, within an “Order” object, “Order amount” is mandatory, so you must input this data to proceed. Additionally, since each object record must be associated with a contact, “Contact number” will also be required. When you select the “Order” object, the system will prompt you to enter both the Order amount and Contact number to ensure all necessary data is available for creating the custom object record.
- Add set: To provide more details, click “+ Add set” to include optional information in the object record, such as order details or shipping address. These additional properties are not required for record creation, so the fields for them will not be displayed automatically when you select the object.
Update custom object records
The “Update custom object records” action allows you to modify your workspace's existing object records. This node simplifies the process of keeping records up-to-date, ensuring your custom object data reflects the latest information.
To set up the node:
- Click on the “Update custom object records” action node to open up its form, which will appear on the right side of the screen
- Select a custom object. If no object is created, you can refer to this help center article to create a custom object
- The node form contains the following fields for you to configure your action:
- Record source: Provide a specific record ID you wish to update, either by manually entering the ID or using a variable
- Object property: Select the property you want to update
- Update to: Enter the new value or content for the selected record property
